My Little Haven

I have really been busy lately. I’ve been creating some items to put up for sale on Etsy. (Please check out my store - the link is to the right! ——->

I’d like to tell you about my little haven. When my daughter, Stacy, moved to Lafayette ,La about 50 minutes west of us, her room was just calling to me. I had set up shop in a smaller room of our house and really needed to have more room to design. Even though it was hard for her to let go of her room Stacy realized that my old room was about to explode with all of the creating going on. So we swapped rooms. I wanted her to have a room at our house when she came into town. I love her to be here and always want her to have a place here. Our children know that they are always welcome in our home. It is their home whenever they want.

My oldest daughter,Kelly and I got to designing my new room set up. Kelly actually designed it on her computer and was able to let me see just how it was going to look before we got started. So we painted my room my favorite color lavender. I love any shade of purple there could be. The accent color is going to be white. We sorted and got to working on it. We ordered a set of sheets to use for accents in the room and to cover a big overstuffed chair Kelly and I found. We bought white shelves from Walmart. We made curtains to hang in front of the shelves to cover up all of my crafting goodies.

Kelly was the Kodak digital rep. for our area and she had a training in Houston one weekend and planned on going to Ikea. She and her husband, David invited me to go along with them so we could shop for my room. At Ikea we bought my shelves, a bench with storage in it, magnet strips, Hooks and metal poles, storage boxes and magazine boxes and my lamps. What fun we had. If you have never gone to Ikea plan on doing it soon it is sooooo much fun and you can get things for better prices than anywhere else.
When we got home we started organizing my room and have created my little haven. My husband, David(I know it is comfusing my husband and my son in law are both Davids) put up my shelves and helped us put together the bench. Our son, Brandon helped him. How much fun is one person allowed to have???

Here are some pictures of my little haven! I hope you enjoy my space as much as I do!

I realize every day that I have had so many people help me create my haven. I don’t know what I would do without my family, they are fantastic. They all enjoy seeing what I create in there.

Well, I have been summoned to the livingroom to watch “The Pirates of the Carrabean” (the second one) with my family. I do have to leave my haven sometime you know. Have a great day. Love what you do and do what you love!

a sussy is a gift for no specific reason

who am i?

I’m a wife of 33 1/2 years, mother to three, and a crafter at heart. I grew up next door to my grandparents who were the ultimate crafters and their love was instilled into my way of life. Our children have been a joy to our lives and we are thankful for each of them. Our oldest daughter Kelly has been married to David S. for almost 6 years. They are photograghers and specialize in wedding photography. Stacy is our second child and lives in Lafayette,La. She is also a photogragher and enjoys writing poetry. Our son Brandon lives in Sugar Land, Tx and works as an Electric Engineer at Flour. I quit my job of 9 years in retail to have more time to nourish my soul by doing things I love such as sewing, embroidery, quilting, and of course spending more time with my husband and family. My husband,David, retired last September from working at Exxon refinery where he has worked for the past 33 years. We have had fun adjusting to life as a retired couple. It has been great.
